will be participating in the Move It Awareness Walk to benefit the Parkinson&#8217;s Association of the Carolinas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><b><span style=\"color: #006600; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"color: #a80000; font-size: small;\">On July 19th and 20th, 2014 WASSOOKEAG RETRIEVERS served as test headquarters for the Penobscot Hunting Retriever Club&#8217;s annual AKC Hunt Test.\u00a0 Master, Senior and Junior stakes were held on properties around Dixmont.\u00a0 The weather was beautidul all weekend and a good time was had by all.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">Autumn has arrived at WASSOOKEAG and the hectic pace of Summer is beginning to subside.\u00a0 We are looking forward to our favorite season, getting in some hunting with our dogs and preparing for Winter.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; this time for the &#8220;Holiday&#8221; season editions of Maine&#8217;s famous outdoor gear and apparel store.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Wassookeag&#8217;s Rebecca WC, CGC <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">was chosen to participate in a professional photo shoot for a well known Maine based outdoor gear and apparel company on August 15th.\u00a0 The shoot took place on a beautiful private beach in southern Maine and will appear in an upcoming Spring Kids catalog.\u00a0 Rebecca enjoyed the attention and especially loved taking a nice long swim at the end of the session.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">WASSOOKEAG RETRIEVERS <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">had their annual state inspection done on August 4th with another 100% satisfactory rating in every category.\u00a0 We are proud of our fully licensed professional Retriever training, breeding and boarding kennel and of the 100% positive ratings it has received in every single inspection we&#8217;ve ever had from the state of Maine, the town of Dixmont as well as the American Kennel Club over the years. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">April 8th was a landmark for WASSOOKEAG as we traveled to Boston to pick up our new addition &#8211; an 8-week old field-bred Golden Retriever named RUSH who flew in from Wisconsin.\u00a0 It was no surprise that he came off the plane ready and raring to go!\u00a0 RUSH was bred by<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Mickey Strandberg of MIOAK&#8217;S Kennels in Dousman.\u00a0 He&#8217;s in training here for hunt tests and derby stakes and will become one of Sue&#8217;s personal gun dogs as well.\u00a0 We are looking forward to a lot of fun with this<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> bold and feisty little fellow!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> A<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> WASSOOKEAG RECORD <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">was set on March 15th (Dave&#8217;s birthday) when Chloe delivered <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">11<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> beautiful, chunky, chocolate pups!\u00a0 All 11 puppies are healthy, active, and content as Chloe keeps them well fed and happy.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are always a lot of fun around WASSOOKEAG and this year was no exception.\u00a0 We love hearing from so many of our puppy families from over the years and the pictures and updates are always appreciated!\u00a0 This year we were surprised to find in the mail a beautiful 2009 calendar called\u00a0 DOG DAYS OF GOLF sponsored by LebanonTurf as a supplement to Golfdom Magazine.\u00a0 The cover features <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Wassookeag&#8217;s Duke<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> a Hilton X Chloe &#8220;pup&#8221;\u00a0 and he is also pictured on every page with his buddy, Bella.\u00a0 Duke is owned and loved by the Hand family who operate the Bucksport Golf Course.\u00a0 Duke was acquired in the winter of 2007 to chase the geese off the golf course and apparently he is doing a fabulous job!\u00a0 Duke is up for the Dog Of The Year contest at the Golf Industry Show to be held in New Orleans in February!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Sue attended the Pawcatuck River Labrador Retriever Club specialty show in Stonington, CT on September 18th where <\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"> Can Ch Pinehaven Wassookeag Filson, WC, CGC &#8211;\u00a0 &#8220;Filson&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> won the Open Yellow Class.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">On Saturday, September 6th, Dave and Sue traveled to Boothbay Harbor with the <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Filson X Bertha pups<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> where the puppies participated in a photo shoot for a major outdoor clothing and recreation equipment company.\u00a0 Their photos will be featured in the upcoming 2009 Summer Home catalog and will have world-wide distribution!\u00a0 The photo shoot was a lot of fun and the pups were surprisingly cooperative throughout the day!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"> <span style=\"color: #006600; &#8220;ANNIE&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> at the<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Bangor Dog Days event on August 16th.\u00a0 Annie enjoyed the morning greeting visitors to the club booth while Dave answered questions about Tollers and training Retrievers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Wassookeag&#8217;s Little Sure Shot &#8211; &#8220;ANNIE&#8221; <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">earned a PHRC Working Certificate title on July 19th.\u00a0 The only <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Toller<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> among an entry of 28, Annie completed the test with ease and at only 35 pounds &#8211; it&#8217;s safe to say she was the smallest qualifier that day!\u00a0 Congratulations also to Jake, Dutch and Baldrick on their titles and also to <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8220;CHASE&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> who was test dog in the Intermediate and Excellent level tests handled by Dave.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Skyfire Wassookeag Boathouse Brown<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"> turned 1 year old on July 17th.\u00a0 Thank you to all the breeder judges who recognized Brew&#8217;s quality in the puppy classes at the LRCP, LRCPV, and the LRCGB Specialty shows.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Brew just got his OFA prelims done and they came back<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> OFA EXCELLENT Hips, Elbows clear.\u00a0 A CERF was done 7\/13\/08 and he is OptGen Clear\/Normal by parentage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">WASSOOKEAG had two dog&#8217;s entered at the<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Penobscot Hunting Retriever Club&#8217;s AKC hunt test on July 6th.\u00a0 Congratulations to <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Wassookeag&#8217;s Chasin&#8217; The Wind, JH, WCX<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> for passing his third wing toward his <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Senior<\/span><\/strong> <strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Hunter <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">title and to <\/span><\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Dave traveled to Mexico, New York on June 27th to attend a <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Retriever handling drills seminar<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> given by Carol Cassity, author of the excellent training manual, &#8220;Building a Retriever &#8211; Drills and More&#8221;\u00a0 This seminar was sponsored by the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club-USA.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> On June 13th at the <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"> Specialty in Chelmsford, MA, Brew placed in the 9-12 month<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> sweepstakes class handled by Sue.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> In May it was off to Westfield, MA to the <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Labrador Retriever Club of Pioneer Valley<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> where <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Brew<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> and <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Filson<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> were in the ribbons again.\u00a0 <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Brew<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> won the 9-12 month Sweeps class and placed in the regular class and <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Filson<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> placed well in the Open Yellow class.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> In April, Sue traveled to Frederick, Maryland once again for the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty.\u00a0 This is the largest specialty show in the world with over 1600 Labrador entries.\u00a0 The &#8220;boys&#8221; from Wassookeag faired very well at the show with <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8220;Filson&#8221; &#8211; (Can Ch Pinehaven Wassookeag Filson, WC) <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">winning second place in his class and our new\u00a0 puppy <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8220;Brew&#8221; font-size: small;\"> On Saturday, November 3rd, Dave &amp; Sue attended the third annual <\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Pet Expo<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> hosted by the <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Tri-County Obedience Club<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> in Wilton, ME.\u00a0 Wassookeag Retrievers participated with our Labradors and Tollers on &#8220;Meet The Breeds Boulevard&#8221; and talked to folks about our training programs.\u00a0 Wassookeag representatives included<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Labradors &#8211; <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Archie, Cybill &amp; font-size: small;\"> Dave &amp; Sue got a chance to travel together to the <\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Susquehanna Retriever Club<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Hunt Tests in Elkton, MD on October 27th and 28th while our daughter, Laurie, held down the fort here at WASSOOKEAG.\u00a0 We had a great time!\u00a0 Dave finished up two hunting titles on dogs and our newest addition, <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Wassookeag Jade, <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">passed her first hunt test, handled by Sue.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; 12 mos Puppy Class!!!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Luna&#8217;s Rising Star, WC, CGC\u00a0 (Bertha) <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">and <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pinehaven Wassookeag Filson<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> made their Canadian show debut in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Halifax Kennel Club shows on September 3rd and 4th.\u00a0 &#8220;<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Bertha<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8221;
