WASSOOKEAG RETRIEVERS focuses on producing a very limited number of quality, versatile Black, Yellow and Chocolate Labradors and a rare litter of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers keeping health and temperament as top priorities. As dedicated hobby breeders, we always strive to adhere to the AKC standard to retain correct conformation and uniformity within the breed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

As a result, WASSOOKEAG puppies have gone on to become show champions, specialty winners, obedience, hunt test, flyball and agility title holders, therapy dogs, service dogs and always loving family companions. <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>

All breeding stock is carefully screened for inheritable health problems and certified clear of hip and elbow dysplasia through x-rays submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for evaluation. Their eyes are examined annually by a board certified veterinary opthamologist (CERF) and we utilize the OptiGen test to ensure that puppies are clear of PRA. We are proud to be recognized as AKC Breeders of Merit through the American Kennel Club.<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Please fill out our puppy questionnaire to be added to our waiting list. Most of our puppies are sold in advance by reservation and we may require a deposit to hold a pup. Wassookeag Retrievers requires prospective owners to visit us prior to taking a puppy home. No purchase is finalized until this visit takes place.<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

All WASSOOKEAG RETRIEVER puppies are raised in our home where someone is always there with them. Our pups go through the early neurological stimulation exercises as outlined in the \"Super Dog\" program. They receive lots of socialization during these first critical weeks and are exposed to the daily hustle and bustle of normal household activity, children, older dogs, a variety of toys, bird wings, ramps to climb on, free romps around the house and time outside in their fenced puppy yard. They are temperament tested at 49 days of age using the Volhard Puppy Personality Profile. <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Our puppies are sold on AKC limited registration. A very select few are sold to established breeders who are seeking a particular pedigree to mesh with their lines.<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

WASSOOKEAG offers a three-year guarantee of functional soundness which displays the confidence we have in our breeding program. <\/p>\n

Prior to going home, all puppies are:
\n - examined by our veterinarian
\n - have dew claws removed
\n - receive routine deworming
\n - are current on vaccinations
